Qi. Prana. Breath. Oxygen. These words describe the vital force that animates life within each of us. Qi was originally defined as “life force” or “vital air” in ancient Chinese (like oxygen!). Blood and oxygen travel along pathways in the body like a river, bringing nourishment and liveliness to every muscle, tissue, and cell. When imbalance occurs in the body, this qi and blood can get blocked, like a dam obstructing the proper flow of a river. This can lead to excessive build up in certain areas of the body causing pain, and/or to a lack of resources in another area causing weakness or fatigue. Acupuncture is effective at eliminating this type of blockage and restoring the smooth flow of oxygen (or Qi) in the body. When our qi is flowing free and easy, we are happy and healthy. Acupuncture is also used to sedate the nervous system and encourage the restorative, deep healing we normally get from rest and sleep - which makes it a wonderful antidote to stress. New Patient Visit: $185 for ALL first-time patients. Acupuncture session: $100 /60 minutes (may include cupping, bodywork/massage, guided meditation, heat, or essential oils) Cupping or Gua Sha session: $50/25 minutes
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a stress and trauma therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine, which he describes as a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to treating trauma. This therapy helps to regulate the nervous system. It is highly effective for those experiencing stress disorders, acute or complex trauma, chronic pain, emotional trauma or dysregulation, a sense of not being able to rest or slow down in life, burnout, tension, insomnia, collective or generational trauma, grief, shame, anxiety, PTSD, and more. This is a bottom-up therapy that helps connect the body and mind together to explore habitual patterns that lie underneath our emotions and behaviors. Somatic Experiencing (SE) allows you to tune into the wisdom of your body to access deeper healing. I am honored to be an SE Practitioner-in-training, currently starting my Advanced year (year 3) of training in this modality. SE can be conducted in person or virtually via Zoom.
Chinese herbal formulas play an integral part in the healing process. Whereas acupuncture can affect the body from the outside, herbs can affect the body from within. Often with internal, stubborn, or chronic syndromes, herbs are indispensable to the treatment, as they can evoke a biochemical change in the body. Herbs are administered in one of three forms (pill, liquid tincture, or powder) and chosen specifically for you. Herbs are very safe to use and have the potential to correct many problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatigue, poor digestion, hormonal imbalances, headaches, pain, infertility, and more. Herbal Consultation: $65 / 30 minutes (price does not include the cost of herbs)
